What is Cairde Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn?

Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn was developed by the community of Maigh Cuilinn for the people of Maigh Cuilinn.

We are all custodians of this facility for a moment in time. It is our role to nurture and develop it, and when the time comes to pass it on to the next generation of Cairde Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn, improved and sustainable.

Where It All Began

Pairc Mhaigh Cuilinn traces its history back to the 1960s when a visionary group of people took on the daunting task of creating a playing facility in Maigh Cuilinn. Prior to this, the GAA clubs and national schools had relied on the generosity and goodwill of various landowners around the parish to provide playing pitches. In the late sixties, a group under the auspices of Muintir na Tìre, with the support of all of the GAA clubs in the parish, set about raising funds to create a new facility for the community in Maigh Cuilinn.

The land at Bailedoite was generously donated by a number of local families whose names are commemorated on a plaque at the current dressing rooms on the site.

Pairc Mhaigh Cuilinn was officially opened in July 1972. Since 1970, a number of different phases of development have occurred at PMC and have culminated in the fine facility we now have in place at Bailedoite.

We are eternally grateful to the community of Moycullen and beyond who over the last sixty years have helped to create, finance and support Pairc Mhaigh Cuilinn. We are very proud of our facility and all of the incredible work that has been done to make it the facility it is today.

As we look forward to the next exciting phase of our development, we remember and thank all of our Cairde past and present for their support.

Thank you to all our cairde – past & present!

Where We Are Now?

Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn consists of 2 pitches, floodlights, an astro training area, a clubhouse with 4 dressing rooms, a gym, a hall, and a maintenance shed.

We have 4 GAA Clubs within the Community, Football & Hurling for men, women, boys & girls. With a combined membership in excess of 600 playing and non-playing members.

  • Cumann Peil Mhaigh Cuilinn
  • Cumann Iománaíochta Mhaigh Cuilinn
  • LGFA Mhaigh Cuilinn
  • Cumann Camógaíochta Mhaigh Cuilinn

The facilities are in constant use, particularly from March to October, with a full schedule of activities running every day.  The surge in membership, volunteer numbers, and continued success and growth across all clubs is fantastic. However, this creates a constant struggle to accommodate all of our members with meaningful pitch time.

Where We Are Going?

Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn aims to grow along with our community. We have an immediate need to expand our facilities to allow us to serve the needs for now and the future.

We are in the late stages of applying for permission to develop the following :

  • New playing pitches: a full-size, durable sand-based grass pitch that can also be used as two juvenile pitches.
  • Lighted walkway – facilitate a safe and bright walking route for use year-round.
  • Extended car parking to provide safe access to our members.
  • Upgrade our current children’s play area with up-to-date fun & safe equipment.

Our Commitment To You

  • To provide regular feedback on how your contributions are being used and the progress being made on our development project.
  • Commence the development of our planned facility at the earliest possible opportunity, finance and planning permitting.
Invest your money wisely and ensure that value for money is achieved.
  • Make our facilities at Bailedoite as self-sufficient and sustainable as possible.
  • Most importantly, we commit to providing a top-class facility at Pairc Mhaigh Cuilinn for use by the entire community of Maigh Cuilinn.
